A 72-year-old man has been charged for allegedly fleeing the scene of a collision in Mississauga last month that left an 80-year-old man seriously injured.
Peel police said the victim was crossing midblock on Creditview Road, south of Eglinton Avenue West, in the afternoon of Nov. 8 when he was struck by a white SUV.
The driver briefly stopped before fleeing, police said. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries.
As a result of an investigation, police were able to identify the vehicle and driver, resulting in his arrest last week.
The man, identified as Theodoros Diamantouros, was charged with failure to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in a Brampton court at a later date.
