It’s alleged that the suspect, who was armed at the time, broke into an apartment in the area and repeatedly stabbed the victim. Police said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

The suspect fled the area on foot but has since been identified by police as 43-year-old Meagan Coote.

Coote, of no fixed address, is wanted on charges of break-and-enter, two counts of assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and disobey a lawful order of the court.

Police described Coote as five-foot-six, with a medium build, dirty blonde hair, and light-coloured eyes. She was last seen wearing a tan-coloured jacket and a light brown knitted scarf.

It’s unclear if the victim and suspect are known to each other.

Police are asking anyone with information about Coote’s whereabouts to contact them at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
